Dr. Jo-Carol Fabianke
Dr. Jo-Carol Fabianke began serving as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Success for the Alamo Colleges in 2012. Her initial assignment with Alamo Colleges was as professor at San Antonio College where she taught for 24 years before advancing her career to leadership roles including becoming the first Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Co-director of the Reaffirmation of Accreditation and District Policy Liaison. During her tenure with Alamo Colleges, Dr. Fabianke has held several senior-level administrative positions including Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, Vice President of Academics at Northwest Vista College, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Partnerships and Initiatives and Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Success before assuming her current role as Vice Chancellor of Academic Success.
Dr. Fabianke earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Baylor University and her Master’s in Business Education from the University of North Texas, where she also was awarded a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Success provides leadership across the Alamo Colleges in academic and instructional areas as well as administers Board policy and cross-college operational procedures for academic success. In addition, the Vice Chancellor leads and guides the development and implementation of cross-college programs and services and establishes district-wide academic and instructional goals, objectives and priorities within the Strategic Plan.
Dr. Fabianke serves as a Baldrige Examiner and Texas Assessment of Performance Excellence examiner. She has also served as a Pacesetter Examiner through the Continuous Quality Improvement Network. She has provided key input at the Texas Association of Community Colleges legislative meetings and has represented the Alamo Colleges at the Association of Community College Trustees conferences.
