  • Benchmarking and Benchmarks. This is a report on the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE), a CCSSE initiative, which provides six benchmarks for community colleges trying to improve the entering community college student experience.
  • Dimensions of Student Engagement. CCSSE report "Making Connections: Dimensions of Student Engagement" is based on community college survey data from 663 institutions in 48 states and several Canadian provinces.

  • Reinventing an R&D Capacity for Educational Improvement. In many sectors of society, leaders confronting challenges turn to their research and development communities for guidance. Unfortunately, the current R&D infrastructure for school improvement is weak and fragmented, while the political environment presses for quick fixes at improving our schools rather than investing in long-term work. We need an R&D capacity to help advance instructional productivity and educational innovation .
  • Executive Guidance for 2011. As the world economy emerges from the Great Recession, organizations seek to internalize key lessons and build new management disciplines that enable intelligent growth. Achieving Intelligent Growth--Insight from the Best Companies by the Corporate Executive Board looks at the differentiating factors of companies that consistently outperform peers coming out of periods of economic turmoil.
  • Alignment of High School Policies with the Demands of College and Careers. This "Closing the Expectations Gap, 2011" publication is an Achieve 50-state progress report to reflect state progress implementing the American Diploma Project policy agenda. It includes chapters on standards, graduation requirements, assessments, P-20 data systems, and accountability.
  • Veteran Students' Progress Toward Degree Attainment. The findings of this pilot study document the effectiveness of the student support services that some institutions are offering veteran students. The grades, retention, and graduation rates of veterans are higher than those of their peers when they are supported by their colleges and universities.
  • Report "Promising Practices for Community College Student Success" The Center for Community College Student Engagement has released its first of three annual reports focusing on strategies for increasing retention and graduation rates at community colleges. The report brings together survey responses from faculty, institutions, and both entering and experienced students.
  • Better Practices to Better Serve Nontraditional Students. This report offers suggestions for confronting the challenges nontraditional students face, including best practices from states and colleges and federal policy recommendations for improving data collection and financial aid.
