Author Tony Diaz launched a small caravan to bring carloads of banned books into Arizona that were recently banned by public school officials in Tuscon after the city suspended its Mexican-American Studies due to a state ban on the teaching of ethnic studies.

“We’ve unleashed this informal network that’s galvanized into a national movement. People are forming groups to read the books that have been confiscated,” says Tony.

Panelists are:

  • Author Tony Diaz, El Librotraficante
  • Dr. Carmen Tafolla, Poet Laureate of San Antonio
  • Diana Lopez, Southwest Workers’ Union, Underground Library
  • Dr. June Pedraza, Assistant Professor, Northwest Vista College English
  • Natalia Treviño, Associate Professor, Northwest Vista College English
