Feb. 18-23The MESA Center at San Antonio College is hosting National Engineers Week events Feb. 18-21. The MESA Center is located in the Chance Academic Center, Room 204. All events are open to students, staff and faculty.

Resumé Workshop Day 1: STEM students are encouraged to join as we review the components of a great resumé, discuss the importance of a cover letter, build a self-assessment of previous work related experiences and review example resumés shared by local engineers.

Join SAC student organizations, Mexican American Engineers and Scientists (MAES) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) for popcorn and a viewing of the movie “October Sky.”
Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Cooper and Laura Dern, “October Sky” is the true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miner’s son, who inspired by the Sputnik launch talks his buddies into joining him in building a rocket. Together Homer and his friends become known as “The Rocket Boys” and overcome challenges to enter into a National Science Awards Competition; their only hope of escaping a coal-miners destiny.

National Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day:
The Society of Women Engineers invites the women of SAC for a day of empowerment. SWE will be hosting women from Network Power/Texas in the MESA Center to teach students how to properly prepare for an interview.
They will discuss everything from what-to-wear to proper interviewing etiquette.

Resume Workshop Day 2: MAES professional chapter representatives will be in the MESA Center to review and answer questions regarding student resumes
