High school juniors and seniors who want to succeed in college can get a head start at the Alamo Colleges’ 2017 Young Leaders Conference, which will focus on leadership—the importance of identifying leadership characteristics, values and goals to enable personal effectiveness and success.

The conference provides a FREE one-day event for high school juniors and seniors in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Workshop sessions also address paying for college, getting involved in college clubs and organizations, support networks, managing your time effectively and student success. Keynote speaker for the event will be Lorenzo Gomez, CEO of San Antonio tech innovator Geekdom. Workshop sessions will be led by college and community leaders, plus there will be guest speakers and workshops designed for parents and high school representatives.

Ten scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded at the conference to students planning to attend one of the Alamo Colleges. There also will be door prizes and the High School Spirit Award (for the school with the highest participation).

For more information, to register and to find out how to apply for the $1,000 scholarship, go to www.alamo.edu/district/sli.
