Program Accreditation & Licensure

St. Philip's College Radiography Technology Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).   The program has a 5-year accreditation with the next review date in October 2015.  Effectiveness data for the program will be available on the JRCERT website and the St. Philip's College (Radiology Technology Program) websites..

Dr. Ewell Clarke, M.D. is the Medical Director/Advisor for the Radiography Technology Program.

Upon successful completion of the Radiography Technology Program, the graduate may sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists examination. Passing this examination will allow the graduate to use the initials R.T.(R), ARRT following their name.

The Radiography Technology graduate is required to seek a state license with the Texas Department of State Health Services in order to practice in the state of Texas. They may be reached at: www.dshs.state.tx.us or (512) 458-7111 or (888) 963-7111.

Admission & Prerequisite Requirements 

Students desiring to major in the Radiography Technology Program must meet all previous admission requirements for acceptance to St. Philip's College and be able to meet the technical standards required for the profession.

In addition, criteria for applying to the Radiography Technology Program includes the following:
 

  • Must show eligibility of enrollment for ENGL 1301 and MATH 1314.
  • Required Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Successful completion of at least three (3) academic curriculum courses allow the student to be eligible to apply to the program. Suggested courses from which you may choose include: 
    • ENGL 1301
    • MATH 1314 
    • BIOL 2404
    • COSC 1301 
    • PSYC 2301 or SOCI 1301
    • Completion of one course from the Humanities (40) core

All items MUST be submitted and postmarked by the application deadline of February 15th.  

Application & Selection Process

The application deadline has been extended.  Applications must be postmarked by March 01, 2014.  No applications will be accepted after the March 1st postmark.

Applications for admission to the Radiography Technology Program are accepted from October 15th to February 15th each year. Applications must be postmarked by February 15. No applications will be accepted after the February 15th postmark.  

Students desiring to major in the Radiography Technology Program must meet all previous admission requirements for acceptance to St. Philip's College.

Students must submit the Radiography Technology Program Checklist and the Radiography Technology Program Application process, including submission of the following:

  • Radiography Technology Program Checklist.  
  • Radiography Technology Program Application Form.
  • Autobiographical Statement including why you are interested in the Radiography Program as well as your short and long term goals.
  • Official copies of all college transcripts (to include St. Philip's College, if applicable).
  • Submit College Entrance Exam Score if applicant has not successfully completed 12 or more college hours.  Please see a college advisor for more information about the college entrance exam.  

In addition, criteria for the Radiography Technology application includes the following:Must show eligibility of enrollment for ENGL 1301 and MATH 1314.

Students may also earn additional applicant points by submitting documentation of any of the following items with the application packet.

    • Certifications or Credentials in a health-related field
    • Current CPR certification 
    • Associates Degree
    • Bachelors Degree
    • Masters Degree

 Selection Process 

Applications must be postmarked by February 15. No applications will be accepted after February 15th postmark. Applications are reviewed during the Spring Semester. Qualified applicants will be interviewed, and selections will be made at the end of the Spring Semester. Each new class begins in the First Summer Session.
