About the Ray Ellison Family Center (REFC)
Alto College is not only a college, but a crossroads where the community can
come together. Education and parenting can be difficult, which is why the
college features the Ray Ellison Family Center, a home away from home
developmental care services center for children of the community.
center at PAC is licensed to provide care to 66 children daily between the ages
of 21 months and 4 years old, including those children who turn 5 after
September 1st. We are located on the Palo Alto College campus.
Ray Ellison Charitable Trust Fund, through the San Antonio Area Foundation,
provided a $200,000 grant for the initial construction of the center. The
center opened its doors on October 3, 2001, as a way to unite the surrounding
Palo Alto community to higher education in San Antonio’s South Side. Without
the stress of child care, students have found focus in their studies as well as
residents in their labor.
purpose of the Ray Ellison Family Center is to provide a high quality early
childhood program that supports the growth, development, and education of
children and their families while creating a model of quality early childhood
education and a center for training early childhood professionals within the
broader San Antonio Community.
Ray Ellison Family Center accepts all children of the South San district and of
PAC students at discounted rates with quality services.
