RAY COX “PALIMPSEST” exhibit and artist’s reception

The Department of Fine Arts, Visual Arts Exhibition program is pleased to announce an exhibition “Palimpsest” by Ray Cox in the Visual Arts Center Gallery, 950 Lewis Street, San Antonio, TX.
The opening reception and exhibition is open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed Saturday, Sunday and Thanksgiving November 27 - 30.
The exhibition, “Palimpsest” presents recent artworks selected by the artist. The event is hosted by San Antonio College and the Alamo College District.

Ray Cox is Professor Emeritus and former professor of art at San Antonio College where he taught drawing and design for 31 years.
In this most recent work, the themes of the palimpsest metaphor, language and transformation are explored through three-dimensional forms consisting of common and found objects and two-dimensional works combining text and images.

Richard Duardo, artist, master printer and managing director of Modern Multiples, a Los Angeles-based fine arts printmaking studio, will present a lecture on Modern Multiples’ collaboration with world- renowned contemporary artists, followed by a short documentary film, The Chicano Collection. The lecture will be followed by a serigraph (silkscreen) print workshop in the same location from 1:40 to 4:20 PM. Both events are free and open to the public.

15th Annual Spring Student Symposium in Art History

2015 Date and time TBA. Visual Arts Center. Room 120
The symposium will include several presentations, selected from outstanding papers and projects from the art lecture courses (ARTS 1301, 1303 and 1304) in the Visual Arts Program, Department of Fine Arts at San Antonio College (see full program below).
Event is open to the public. Reception will follow presentations. Please bring your classes and/or encourage students to attend, and help us celebrate exceptional academic work in the Visual Arts Program at San Antonio College.
