Advising Services

Our dedicated certified advisors and staff play a vital role in the educational endeavors of San Antonio College students by providing academic advising, guidance, counseling, and course placement service year-round. Alamo Colleges District has also introduced Alamo Institutes to provide advising information regarding career pathway.

Online Advising 

Online counseling and academic advisement builds and sustains partnerships with students to support their academic success and academic challenges and makes referrals for other support services.  

Graduation Project

Students are strongly encouraged to begin planning for graduation early by meeting with a faculty mentor or visit with a certified advisor or faculty mentor at the department office for your major to receive a preliminary degree evaluation and to discuss degree options and appropriate catalog year.  Students are encouraged to begin planning for graduation early by meeting with a faculty advisor or counselor and selecting a specific degree plan or academic/career goal.

Transfer and Career Center  

The Transfer and Career Center provides both transfer and career services in one location!  Transfer Services assist with exploring different avenues to obtain degree information from other colleges and universities in the state of Texas and throughout the country.  Career Services assists students in pursuing life-long career goals by helping to identify a major and career field, developing effective job search skills, and providing access to employment opportunities.  We have numerous events through out the year.  Please be sure to check our events calendar on our webpage to see all of the upcoming fairs and university/employer visits!  The Transfer and Career Center can assist with transfer plans, transfer requirements, career assessments, career planning and so much more!  Please contact us at: (210) 486-1500.

San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP)

SAEP assists students with the transition from high school to college life; provide students with academic support services; increase student's academic and social awareness; develop student's leadership potential and academic survival skills, and improve retention and success of eligible SAEP students.

TRiO STEM

TRIO programs will benefit from comprehensive services including:  year-round tutoring, help with selecting the right courses for their education and career goals, year-round personal counseling for financial, academic and personal matters, help with the process of transferring to a four-year institution, and personalized assistance with financial aid, including help with finding and applying for scholarships.
