Mathematics, Engineering, & Technology Awards
A San Antonio College Scholarship funded by the National Science Foundation
Eligible students may receive up to 4 k$ each academic year based on academic performance and the number of scholarships awarded.
Purpose
To increase the participation of underrepresented groups in the fields of Engineering, Mathematics, Science, and Technology. These scholarships are for full-time San Antonio College students who need financial assistance to complete their educational goals. Students who receive scholarships are expected to complete an Associate Degree, a Certificate, or a transfer to a four-year university in a timely manner.
Eligibility Criteria
CUMULATIVE GPA - 2.500 or higher. High school GPA for first-time college students - 3.000 or higher.
ENROLLMENT - 12 credit hours or more (9 of the 12 credit hours must be in college-level coursework).
APPROVED MAJOR - Work toward completing an Associate Degree,
a Certificate, or a transfer to a four-year university, in an approved major.
Approved majors are listed below.
FAFSA - Demonstrate a financial need by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
EMPLOYMENT - It is highly recommended that the student should not work more than 20 hours per week.
CITIZENSHIP - U. S. or permanent resident status (submit a copy of Alien Registration Card I-151 or I-551).
ATTEND - 3 counseling sessions or program meetings each semester and 3 program activities each year. Activities must be approved by a member of the program’s faculty.
MENTOR - A San Antonio College student after the first year in the program.
Continuation Criteria
RENEW - The application every semester. Recommendations and a transcript are not required.

PROGRESS - Toward completing an Associate Degree, a Certificate, or a transfer to a four-year university in an approved major.
DEMONSTRATE - A financial need and meet San Antonio College’s financial aid progress guidelines at a 65% course completion rate.
SUBMIT - A META Activity Form at the end of each semester to document the required participation in META activities and meetings, and a META Student Survey to assist us in improving the program.
