Robotics Camp for 3rd-5th Graders
The Alamo Colleges District are offering one-week robotics camps. These camps are made possible in part by a donation from Rackspace Hosting. Each college is partnering with area schools and organizations to provide this experience to students of all ages and Rackspace Hosting Scholarships are available for students that qualify. The San Antonio College Robotics Camps are scholarship only camps, in order to be considered for the scholarship, a child must attend a Title 1 campus or qualify for free or reduced lunches. If your child does not meet the scholarship requirements please check the other Alamo College campuses for camp dates and costs; links can be found at the bottom of this web page.
The San Antonio College robotics camp is a fun-filled, interactive hands-on experience for 3rd - 5th graders. It gives children an opportunity to design, build and program LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots. The camp allows students to work in small groups of 3-4 guided by an instructor and teaching assistant. SpaceTEAMS is a program intended to generate interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) based careers. The camp will progress from self-guided basic robot builds and programming to mini-challenges with a final day exhibition performance by all groups. It will last one week from 9am-4pm. Parents should arrange transport for their child to and from the campus and students are expected to bring a sack lunch.
San Antonio College will be hosting two identical camps. Please indicate which camp you would like your child to attend on the application.
