Alamo Colleges Honor Congressman Gonzalez at Innovators Ed Week

Congressman Charles Gonzalez, Paul Silva, director of Scholarships for Economic and Educational Development (SEED) of the Georgetown University Center for Intercultural Education and Development, and Dr. Cynthia Herbert, author, educator and innovative learning specialist, were recognized as "innovators in Education" at a special ceremony during International Education Week at the Alamo Colleges. The event was held to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to international education and to showcase the Alamo Colleges’ international education efforts. Gonzalez, Silva and Herbert were joined by Alamo Colleges' Chancellor Dr. Bruce Leslie and Carol Fimmen, Alamo Colleges' director of international programs.
Also as part of International Education Week, two other individuals were honored for their leadership in international education.
They are Dr. Alba De Leon, international education liaison at Palo Alto College, and Shahrzad Dowlatshahi, chief of protocol for the City of San Antonio.
A joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Education, International Education Week promotes the value and exchange of international learning experiences.It was celebrated this year from November 12-16.
