Alamo Colleges Selected as Finalist for Bellwether Award

The Alamo Colleges have been chosen by the Community College Futures Assembly (CCFA) as a finalist for the national Bellwether Award, which recognizes outstanding and innovative programs in community college education. The Alamo Colleges are one of 30 finalists selected from nearly 250 applications, and are among the ten finalists selected in the Workforce Development category.

"The Alamo Colleges have established a reputation as a leader in workforce development at the local, state and national levels," said Alamo Colleges' Chancellor Dr. Bruce Leslie. "We are pleased to have received this additional recognition by being selected as a finalist for this prestigious national award," he added.

Finalists were selected in three categories: Instructional Programs and Services, co-sponsored by the National Council of Instructional Administrators; Planning, Governance and Finance, co-sponsored by the Council for Resource Development; and Workforce Development, co-sponsored by the National Council for Continuing Education and Training. All finalists will present at the Assembly on January 28, 2013 in Orlando, Florida, and one winner will then be selected from each category by a panel of national experts within each category. The winners will be announced on January 30 at the CCFA annual meeting in Orlando. The Alamo Colleges received the 2012 Bellwether Award in the Planning, Governance and Finance category.

At the Alamo Colleges, high quality education and low costs provide exceptional value to students and alumni who are major contributors to the economy and culture of our community.
