New U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego, who represents the Palo Alto College service area and a Congressional District that reaches to El Paso, visited Palo Alto College on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. During his 75-minute visit, the congressman met with President Dr. Mike Flores, where he learned about the $1.714 million in federal grant funding that the College uses to operate each year and which provides funding for 38 staff positions.
Congressman Gallego toured program areas in Sabine and Brazos Halls to see the equipment for Industrial Automation Technology, Network Administration, Oil & Gas Technology/Petroleum, and Corporate and Community Education’s Healthcare programs. He also visited the Palomino Center to hear about the Welcome Advising Center, PAC’s efforts in transfer and graduation in the Center for Academic Transitions, and the new Undergraduate Advising Center with advising for the federal STEM grant.
