Enactus Competes at Nationals

San Antonio College’s Enactus team left last week to compete at the Enactus 2014 National Competition in Cincinnati, OH. On April 1, the team won an award in the Opening Rounds, making them a finalist to compete in the quarterfinals of competition and a chance to win the championship. They competed with over 200 teams in the first round.

The quarterfinals were held April 2 where they competed against 137 college/university teams. To their disappointment, they did not advance to the top 20.

The team and their sponsors are extremely proud and excited to come home with the trophy they did win in recognition for their efforts.

The Enactus team partnered with Wal-Mart in fall 2013 where they were awarded a grant for their project “A Touch of Class” for helping a student, Veronica Miller, to start a business under the Wal-Mart Women’s Economic Empowerment partnership.

The team also completed three other projects that were presented at the competition – “Alamo City Suds,” “San Antonio Resource Guide” and “Helping Hand Refugee Resettlement.”

Although Enactus consists of a large group of students, Enactus Presenting team members were Veronica Miller, Diana Bazaldua, Anthony Brown, Annie Marshall, Claire Marshall and Krystal Hernandez. Enactus Advisors/Business Professors are Dr. Charles Hunt and Dr. Mahmud Yusuf.
