SAC Speech Team Wins National Awards

SAC’s Speech Team members recently competed at the Phi Rho National Tournament in Denver and brought home some awards. 

Among 35 teams, SAC Speech Team members Anzlie Lowak, Kirk Cox, Nathan Price, Esau Perez and Terran Duhon placed first in the small school division. Among the 58 schools attending, ranging small, medium and large), the team placed seventh overall. In Addition, Terran Duhon attended the AFA-NIET (national speech tournament primarily for four-year colleges/universities) and was a quarterfinalist in Dramatic Interpretation. The mighty team of five placed above community colleges with 14 team members with multiple coaches.  

As Always, along with the awards, they bring home memories and experiences from the tournament that will last a lifetime. The skills they acquire and execute will serve them both professionally and personally.  

The team won Team Sweepstakes Gold awards in Individual Events Sweepstakes and Overall Sweepstakes (combining both individual events and debate).  

Kirk Cox won three Silver awards for Programmed Oral Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation and Interpreter’s Theatre: “Tell ‘em.” 

Nathan Price won a Bronze award in Dramatic Duo Interpretation with Esau Perez and a Silver in Interpreter’s Theatre: “Tell ‘em.” 

Terran Duhon won Gold awards in Prose Interpretation and Dramatic Interpretation. 

Esau Perez won a Bronze award in Dramatic Duo Interpretation with Esau Perez and a Silver for Interpreter’s Theatre: “Tell ‘em.”
