April 2014 - Student of the Month

Gina Rose
Northeast Lakeview College

Gina Rose is the recipient of the April 2014 La Prensa Foundation Student of the Month Scholarship and will receive an award of $500 from the La Prensa Foundation founded by Millie and Tino Duran.

Ms. Gina Rose began her journey at Northeast Lakeview College in August 2013. She came to NLC after serving active duty in the US Army where she was employed as a Certified Radiology Tech. Diagnosed with cancer several years ago, she had to give up her military career and states she came back to college because she needed “a distraction from her treatments.”

Ms. Rose indicates her experience at Northeast Lakeview College “has been nothing but enjoyable” and she has found a new passion for psychology. However, she still keeps her radiology license up-to-date and is an active member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).

Her nominator says, “seldom have I a met a student with the caliber of determination and the spirit Gina possess.”

She plans to finish up the courses needed to transfer to a university where she hopes to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Her ultimate goal is to complete her Master’s degree and begin a career in Industrial Psychology.

She has three children (ages 20, 14, and 9).

Please help us in congratulating Gina Rose as the Alamo Colleges – La Prensa Foundation Student of the Month for April 2014
