Accuplacer Information for Mathematics

The Accuplacer is a test provided by the CollegeBoard which Northwest Vista College uses as an indicator of whether a student is ready for college-level mathematics.  Based off the score a student receives, he/she may be placed into a developmental math course if the department feels he/she needs extra preparation before taking a college-level math course.

Accuplacer Score Math Placements

Based off the score you receive on the math portion of the Accuplacer, you will be placed in the following math classes.  Students taking the Accuplacer will first take the Elementary Algebra (EAR) test for Math.  If the student scores below 40 on the EAR, the student will then take the Arithmetic (AR) test for placement into MATH 0300 or MATH 0301.  If a student scores 86 or higher on the EAR, the student will then take the College Level Math (CLM) test for possible placement into MATH 1316, MATH 2412 or higher.
