Advising Days: One day each month in Redbud Learning Center, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm, faculty advisors are available for walk-in advising. Faculty advisors provide a full spectrum of advising, from general Q&A regarding academic and career interests to specific questions about degree planning and course selection. For a schedule of upcoming Advising Days, visit the Advising Calendar.

Advising Tables: During the second week of spring registration, faculty advisors are available in Cypress Center to provide students with information about degree plans, registration and classes.

Advising Week Rush: The first week of October and February are designated “Faculty Advising Weeks.” During advising weeks, faculty advisors make a concerted effort to be available for advising during their office hours, and to encourage students to set appointments. For a schedule of upcoming Advising Weeks, visit the Advising Calendar.

Faculty/Staff Recommendations: Faculty and staff are encouraged to direct students to the department of their selected discipline and/or area of interest for advising by a faculty member.  Students who have not declared a major, aren't sure what they're interested in, or have declared Liberal Arts as their major, should continue to work with Advisors through the Welcome Center.

Student Development (SDEV) Courses: All students enrolled in Student Development (SDEV) courses receive information about the NVC faculty advising program and will have a degree plan on file by the end of their course.

Student Success Advisors: Students who have not yet declared a major or are Liberal Arts majors should seek advising through Student Success in Cypress Center.  Students who would like assistance choosing a career can visit CaTS (Career and Transfer Services).

Wildcat Mentors: Wildcat mentors are student peer mentors who help new students navigate their way through the college experience. Peer mentors are trained to assist students in connecting with advising services. For more information, visit the Wildcat Mentors homepage.
