Fiesta Grilldown IconAbout Fiesta Grilldown


Do you and a friend have what it takes to win this year's Fiesta Grilldown competition? We are seeking 10 teams of 2 to compete in the third annual #FiestaGrilldown Carne Asada Contest. #FiestaGrilldown began in 2014. The competition is free to enter and open to the public. Contestants from all over San Antonio and surrounding areas have grilled and competed for chance to become #FiestaGrilldown champions.

In the end, only one team will be crowned champions of the 3rd Annual Fiesta Grilldown Carne Asada Contest. The winning team will receive a grand prize and a second runner up team will also be given a prize. May the best asada win!

2 Ways To Enter

  1. Apply online at alamo.edu/pac/fiesta-grilldown
  2. Tag a photo on social media with the hashtag #PACfest and #FiestaGrilldown
    • Social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
    • Include team name
    • Contestants are advised to keep account public

Fiesta Grilldown IconContest Rules


  1. Each team must have two contestants
  2. Each team will be allowed one hour to prepare, grill and create their version of the best carne asada
  3. Teams must prepare a plate for the judges using a presentation plate that will be provided
  4. Only judges will sample the final product. Points will be assessed for presentation, taste, and originality
  5. Alcohol is prohibited
  6. All contestants are invited to bring their own seasonings, which they will be allowed to use
  7. Contestants are not allowed to provide food to the general public
  8. Teams will be provided with:
    • One Smokey Joe grill
    • One bag of instant light charcoal
    • 1 lb. of unseasoned fajita meat
    • One pair of grilling gloves
    • Two aprons
    • One mixing bowl
    • One presentation plate
    • One community produce table containing: onions, serrano peppers, jalapeno peppers, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, limes, garlic and avocado

4 p.m.: Contestants check-in
4:30 p.m.: Mandatory meeting with contestants to review contest rules and answer questions
5 p.m.: Contest begins
6 p.m.: Contest ends
8 p.m.: Winners announced on main stage
