SAC Students Plan FREDSTOCK for Final Exam
A gaggle of SAC Music Business students, led by festival organizer and Music Business Program Coordinator, Donnie Meals, plan and execute the annual FREDSTOCK Music Festival as their final exam.
FREDSTOCK will take place on the SAC campus on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 12 to 8 pm in the Longwith Radio-TV-Film building’s parking lot (corner of Courtland Place & N. Main Ave.)
The festival is free and open to the public.
This year’s headliners include:
• Mitch Webb and The Swindles
• Bob Charles
• Austin Forest, and
• Los #3 Dinners
“The music festival is a chance for Music Business students to get hands-on learning of every aspect of putting together a music showcase,” said Meals, who is also the faculty member for this class. “Fredstock is hands-on training. It’s part of the process that our students will be doing out there in the industry.”
The students get to perform music business roles from booking the bands and vendors to preparing stage logistics and creating festival promotions.
Every annual festival brings in an array of music fans to hear different performing bands and walk through the sponsored booths of art and crafts, community business sponsors, vendors and food trucks.
Fredstock 2017 is also simulcast in its entirety on San Antonio College’s radio station, KSYM 90.1 FM.
