San Antonio College is ranked in the top 10 community colleges for Hispanics by Hispanic Outlook (HO) magazine for the second consecutive year.

The annual ranking, published in the February 2018 edition of Hispanic Outlook magazine, names SAC No. 8 out of the top 25 community colleges in the nation for Hispanic students.

SAC’s sister college, Northwest Vista, was also listed in the Top 25 list coming in at No. 4. As well, Palo Alto College was included in the list of “Top 10 Community Colleges with Higher Percentage of Associate Degree Earners Who Are Hispanic.”

In addition, an editorial titled “There’s No Place Like Home,” written by Dr. Robert Vela, SAC President, was also published in the February magazine. View editorial here.

On average, San Antonio College has about 20,000 students enrolled each semester and nearly 60 percent are Hispanic. In 2016-2017, San Antonio College awarded a record number of 5,531 degrees and certificates.

HO’s Top 25 List is based on several factors, including:

  • Percentage of Hispanics in Attendance
  • Total Student Enrollment
  • Two-Year Schools Awarding the Most Associate Degrees to Hispanics
  • Percentage of Hispanics Awarded Associate Degrees by Two-Year Schools
