New Garage Opens March 17

It has been a long time in the making, but the new parking garage is finally ready! Starting Monday, March 17th, SAC’s newest parking garage will be open for use. The new garage offers 900+ spaces, including reserved areas for retail guests and Tobin Lofts residents.

The spaces in the existing garage that are currently reserved for Tobin Lofts residents will be relocated to the new garage, and will be released for student and employee parking.

An official Alamo Colleges Parking Permit is required to park in the new parking garage, as well as any other lot or garage on campus. The Alamo Colleges have determined that the parking fee for garages will be postponed until the start of the 2014-15 academic year.

Tobin Lofts residents and retail patrons will have special permits to park in the reserved areas. Vehicles not displaying a valid permit (Alamo Colleges or otherwise) will be ticketed. SAC encourages all students to obtain the Alamo Colleges parking permit to be in compliance and to avoid parking citations. Parking in the neighborhood or on Main St. is discouraged. The City of San Antonio patrols the area frequently and ticketing and towing does occur.

The new garage has five floors. The floor breakdown is as follows:

o   1st floor – future retail parking / student and employee parking (unless otherwise marked)

o   2nd floor – student and employee parking

o   3rd floor – student and employee parking

o   4th floor – Tobin Lofts parking

o   5th floor – Tobin Lofts parking

As a result of the new parking garage opening for use, the need for the temporary parking lot at Playland Park will be reevaluated. As of now, the shuttle will continue to run from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, without change. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
