Emma L. Mendiola is Dean of Student Affairs for San Antonio College. She has a Bachelor's of Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also has a certificate in Human Services Management from UT Arlington and is a Licensed Master's Social Worker.
Memberships in professional organizations include Texas Community College Teachers Association, Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education, and the Alliance for Hispanic Serving Institutions Educators. She has served as a board member for Planned Parenthood Trust of San Antonio and South Central Texas, State Board Member for the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education, and Board of Directors member for the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
Honors include Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who of Hispanic Americans, San Antonio College Student Development Instructor of the Year, National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Award in Teaching, Leadership and Learning, Texas Higher Education Star Award, and Yellow Rose of Texas Education Award.
Dean Mendiola has served in a variety of Teaching, Counseling, and Administrative roles in her 20 years of service at San Antonio College. She believes in the power of education as the "great equalizer" in our society and is fiercely dedicated to educational access and student success.
