Distinguished Graduates 2013 - here they come!
The San Antonio College Distinguished Graduate program will
celebrate its third anniversary during this year’s commencement ceremony on May
11, 2013. Some 42 students will cross
the stage at the Freeman Coliseum wearing the distinctive purple cord marking
them as Distinguished Graduates.
Each year, every SAC program has the opportunity to select
one distinguished graduate. The candidate
is either a major in the program, or in one or more of the program’s classes. Each
January, students can apply (self nominate) to be a Distinguished Graduate and must
complete service projects for the department and college designed to promote
Eligible students must:
Have a minimal GPA of 3.2;
Walk the graduation ceremony in May;
Serve as a Graduation Ambassador;
Complete a Service Project to promote
Projects this year have included:
A flash mob created by
American Sign Language students who
signed to the song “Don’t Stop Believin’” on the Loftin Mall.
A dance student choreographed
and performed a graduation dance routine on the steps the Moody Learning
An Early Childhood
Studies graduate created a poster and hosted a Fiesta lunch sharing information
about the steps to graduation and shared
resources for scholarships, training, and continuing education classes.
A Paralegal Studies student
created a DVD of video clips and interviews with students on why they are
choosing to graduate.
