Distinguished Graduates 2013

Distinguished Graduates 2013 - here they come!

The San Antonio College Distinguished Graduate program will celebrate its third anniversary during this year’s commencement ceremony on May 11, 2013.   Some 42 students will cross the stage at the Freeman Coliseum wearing the distinctive purple cord marking them as Distinguished Graduates.

Each year, every SAC program has the opportunity to select one distinguished graduate.  The candidate is either a major in the program, or in one or more of the program’s classes. Each January, students can apply (self nominate) to be a Distinguished Graduate and must complete service projects for the department and college designed to promote graduation.

Eligible students must:

·      Have a minimal GPA of 3.2;

·      Walk the graduation ceremony in May;

·      Serve as a Graduation Ambassador;

·      Complete a Service Project to promote graduation.

 Projects this year have included:

      A flash mob created by American Sign Language students   who signed to the song “Don’t Stop Believin’” on the Loftin Mall.

      A dance student choreographed and performed a graduation dance routine on the steps the Moody Learning Center.

      An Early Childhood Studies graduate created a poster and hosted a Fiesta lunch sharing information   about the steps to graduation and shared resources for scholarships, training, and continuing education classes.

       A Paralegal Studies student created a DVD of video clips and interviews with students on why they are choosing to graduate.
