STEM Lecture Series

Spend an afternoon learning with Dr. Jonathan Lindner, a scientist researching the 2012 spread of meningitis and black mold creeping into the spines of hundreds of people who got tainted steroid shots for back pain, during the Fall 2012 STEM Lecture Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the Campus Center building. Lindner is a research scientist in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory within the UT Health Science Center's department of pathology in San Antonio and the topic of his address is Guanine Style: The Importance of DNA and Molecular Research in Human Disease Diagnosis and Treatment. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics lectures are presented twice per year with funding from the National Science Foundation–funded Presidential Scholars Project and the HBCU–UP Project GeNex Grants within the mathematics department at St. Philip's College. The lecture series offers opportunities for students and visitors to listen to, ask questions of, and interact with outstanding professionals working in STEM areas. Event parking and admission are both free.
