The goal at the Good Samaritan Veterans Outreach and Transition Center (GSVOTC) is to provide free services to eligible veterans and their families regardless of their affiliation with St. Philip’s College.
Veterans are returning home and are in immediate need of transitional services. The staff at the GSVOTC will collaborate with participating agencies to cultivate a nurturing and compassionate environment, which will inspire and empower our patrons to continue with their personal and professional development.
The GSVOTC will provide:
- claims assistance
- job training
- financial management
- employment training
- and other services
We look forward assisting veterans and their dependents as they adjust back into civilian life.
The historic Good Samaritan Hospital was constructed in 1915 as the Corinth Baptist Church and in 1948 was converted to a hospital for African-American patients in response to segregation.
In December of 2011, the San Antonio City Council approved a partnership with the Alamo Community College District and St. Philip's College to renovate the former hospital into a veterans outreach center. The Veterans Outreach and Transition Center will provide services to all eligible veterans and their families in the community.
Please revisit our website as we will continue to add additional information as the services become available.
