Accelerate TEXAS Week at SPC

The St. Philip’s College Southwest Campus is host site of a unique celebration of student success tomorrow---an information session where people can enroll while visiting one campus of a free Alamo Colleges District program that helps Adult Basic Education students succeed in college.

Coinciding with Accelerate TEXAS Week, the reception for Alamo Colleges District Workforce Center of Excellence's Intensive College Readiness program is Nov. 14 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in Rooms C210-C213 of Building 1 at 800 Quintana Rd. (building marked as "4" on the interactive mapHTTP://ALAMO.EDU/SPC/IMAP-SWC/). St. Philip's College is chosen to host this event because the effort focuses on Level 1 Certificates that are the target certifications for adults who return to college and qualify for excellent employment, and the college has graduated a nationally-recognized bevy of alumni from those programs, according to event organizer Melissa Sadler-Nitu, the district’s director of I-BEST and adult basic education at the workforce center. In addition to currently enrolled students, Rafael Brisita, vice president of Southwest Campus, is among adult basic education experts whom guests can speak with during the reception and enrollment program, said Sandler-Nitu.

All who want to join the program---established in 2010---are welcome. For all details contact Sandler-Nitu at 210-485-0278, mnitu@alamo.edu.
