St. Philip’s College is designated as an official testing center for the administration of the General Educational Development Test (GED) under the guidelines of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the American Council on Education (ACE).
The GED tests give you the opportunity to earn a certificate of high school equivalency. You must score a minimum total of 2250 (450 average per test) with no individual test score less than 410 on all 5 tests to receive a Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency.
GED Policies and Schedule
Registration Dates: Registration is offered twice a month at 8:00am on Mondays
see schedule. Cost: $110 for all five tests and $20 each retest.
Required items for all examinees to bring to registration:
- Government issued identification (Texas DL/Texas ID, Military ID, Passport/Visa, or Consulate ID)
- Cash/ Money Order Only (Cost= $110) or a payment voucher
- Proof of Texas Residency
- An unlaminated Social Security Card
- Official Practice Test (OPT) score or completion of a GED preparation class/program
If you are 17 years old in addition to the items listed above you must provide
- A parent or legal guardian consent form
- A withdraw form from the last high school attended
If you are 16 years old in addition to all the items listed above you must provide the original court order and it must meet the finding required by Section 45.054 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Changes to the GED Test
Please note the 2002 GED Testing Series will be replaced beginning January 2, 2014. Incomplete or insufficient GED scores from the 2002 series will no longer be valid after December 31, 2013. We encourage you to complete your preparation and testing as soon as possible.
Testing Dates & Times
On testing days, report to the test center at 8am and plan on staying till approximately 2:00pm. Late arrivals are not permitted into the testing room. TEA is very strict in handling late arrivals. Once the testing door closes no one can be admitted.

GED Passing Score

GED Canceling Test Appointments
Please call (210) 486-2532, in advance and leave a message if you need to cancel! In order to better serve our students we will be imposing a $10.00 CANCELLATION FEE for appointments that are missed, without notice.
Accessibility
Audio tape or Braille versions of the GED are available. Candidates are required to present documentation of such need from an appropriate professional. Requests for special accommodations are submitted to the GED office at the Texas Education Agency for review and final approval.
