About the Good Samaritan Veterans Outreach and Transition Center: In December of 2011, the San Antonio City Council approved a partnership with the Alamo Community College District and St. Philip's College to repurpose the property into a veterans outreach center. The center team currently located within the college's Norris Technical Building at 1801 Martin Luther King Drive (HTTP://ALAMO.EDU/SPC/VOTC/) has provided personalized services to eligible veterans and their families in the interim years, with the expected 2017 transition to the stand-alone facility grand opening forecast for Aug. 9. At the 202 Connelly St. property, these consumers should expect to find a supportive environment for a bevy of referral services, job training, financial counseling, health and wellness, legal services, business start-up, and consultation on their educational options. All of these services will be provided at no cost to the client.

About the Turbon Student Center at St. Philip's College: The hub of student government, leadership and entertainment will return to the college’s 64-year-old Turbon Student Center after its renovation and opening is complete on Aug. 9, a facility where the best practices in student leadership and social life will be elevated from previous seasons at the college. Triple the size of the original building, the 28,000 square foot two-story complex is expected to enhance student success as a hub for corporate student leadership, governance and activities, all led by the college's Student Life department team. Additions to the original building include a contract U.S. Post Office for public use, along with a College Bookstore, Café and Bowling Alley. The college's Student Government team will serve students and the community from second floor offices located directly in the heart of campus property.
