A few ways Student Life connects students are through:

  • student organizations,
  • campus events/activities,
  • Student Success Newsletter (See Calendar of Events Inside)
  • recreation, and
  • social development.

Services Offered

E. L. Turbon Student Center

The Center is the “home away from home” for students. Here you can relax, study, visit with friends, eat, or merely engage in competitive gaming. Playing pool between classes is another favorite Center activity.

The Turbon Student Center is a multi-purpose facility and serves as the focal point for Student Life at St. Philip's College.

The Center has meeting rooms, a snack area, a big screen TV for gaming, a television for viewing, a lounge, and houses the Student Government Association's office, African American Men on the Move, Coaches' offices, and International Student Association office.

  • "Lobby" offers students a place to meet with other students, tutors, university recruiters, seek employment opportunities and many other opportunities.
  • "Main Floor" here you can just "hangout", study, relax, play video games, or take a nap.
  • "Vending Area" contains vending machines and a microwave
  • "Stage" has a pool table, arcade games, dominoes, and much more.
  • "Pennant Room" is a multi-purpose room used for meetings and gatherings.

Entertainment in the Turbon Center during a semester offers something for everyone:

  • Live music
  • caricatures,
  • dance exhibitions,
  • mechanical bull rides,
  • poetry slams,
  • magicians,
  • noted speakers,
  • self-help and development workshops

These and many other events are free to students!

Students are encouraged to get involved in student organizations. There are numerous student clubs on campus. There are social clubs, special interest clubs, and clubs organized by educational departments. Information on student clubs and organizations can be found in the Turbon Center.

Services Available

Lockers - A limited number of lockers are located in the Center. These lockers are free and issued on a first come first serve basis. Lockers can also be found in the Campus Center.
