ACD Chancellor receives Baldrige Foundation Award for Leadership Excellence

Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor, has received the 2023 Baldrige Foundation Award for Leadership Excellence in education. This national award commends Dr. Flores for embodying Baldrige Foundation values, from his visionary leadership to his commitment to continuous improvement.

“I am incredibly honored to receive this award,” said Flores. “It not only recognizes our district-wide commitment to be best-in-class but recognizes our District’s collective effort to empower our diverse communities for success.”

The Leadership Excellence award builds on the District’s Baldrige legacy. In 2018, the Alamo Colleges were the first community college system in the nation to receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest presidential honor. 

With more than 20 years of service to the Alamo Colleges, Dr. Flores has the distinction of being the first Hispanic chancellor in the District’s history. He has centered his chancellorship on strategic initiatives that create upward mobility for students through personal support in reaching their education and life goals. 

Flores received the award on April 4, 2023, at the annual Quest for Excellence conference near Washington, D.C. Congratulations, Dr. Flores!
