United for Humanity
October 12, 2023
The nation has watched in horror the unspeakable violence perpetrated by the terrorist organization Hamas on Israel and the eruption of war in Gaza and other parts of Israel. The conflict has left innocent Israelis, Palestinians, and expats visiting or working in that part of the Middle East displaced, injured, and dead – and the conflict continues.
The violence, though far from our campuses and neighborhoods in San Antonio, has had an impact on our students and neighbors. We are working to connect with any of our ACD family who has ties to the region to ensure they are supported as they deal with loss and uncertainty. International students and scholars can contact the Office of International Programs or your designated school officer for more guidance.
For those who are simply trying to process the hate, destruction, and death in the aftermath of each violent attack, we look toward our mission to empower our diverse communities for success. We believe our greatest comfort and strength will come in the form of communities coming together and humanitarian efforts.

Support Humanitarian Efforts
We have organized resources for our Alamo Colleges family to be able to contribute to aiding those who are impacted by war and violence, without resources like food, shelter, water and medical care or family support.
International Red CrossICRC is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization with a humanitarian mission to help victims of armed conflict and violence. It has called for an end to the violence between Israel and Hamas militants. |
Doctors Without BordersDoctors without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent charity providing medical care and supplies to victims of conflict, disease outbreaks, and disasters. It has called on all parties to ensure the safety of civilians. It is donating medical supplies to hospitals in Gaza. |
