Holt Foundation Challenger Memorial Garden Dedicated

The Scobee Education Center at San Antonio College held a special dedication ceremony for the Holt Foundation Challenger Memorial Garden on Friday, April 10. The dedication included remarks from SAC President Dr. Robert Vela, Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Bruce Leslie, honoree B.D. Holt and Challenger Center Founding Chair Dr. June Scobee Rodgers. The Holt Foundation Challenger Memorial Garden features seven stone monuments, each honoring one of the crewmembers of the fated Challenger Shuttle.  


SAC Ranger Wins Multiple Awards

The San Antonio College Ranger newspaper staff won multiple awards at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association convention in San Antonio on Saturday, April 11. Among the Ranger’s awards was a first-place nod in the special edition category for its April 24, 2014 four-page, full-color section that paid tribute to retiring President Dr. Robert Zeigler. Eight Ranger staff members and three advisors attended the three-day convention, which drew 442 students and 76 advisers from 49 Texas colleges and universities.  


Male Administrators Participate in "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes"

San Antonio College President Dr. Robert Vela and other male administrators, faculty, staff and students from around the college participated in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on Thursday, April 9. Hosted by the Empowerment Center in association with the Rape Crisis Center, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence. The mile walk through campus began at the Loftin Student Center and ended at the Empowerment Center.
