"Meet the Majors" Event Assists Students

Representatives from multiple departments were on hand on Thursday, March 27, at SAC”s Meet the Majors event. Over 45 career departments and program options with faculty and advisors were set up to answer questions about possible careers, degree plans and what classes one would need to take to get headed in the right direction. About 350 students attended the event. The majority of students surveyed stated the event was helpful and rated it as excellent.

 

Health and Wellness Expo Draws Crowd

The Candler gyms were full of students this week, April 2, during SAC’s Health and Wellness Expo. The expo was a free community event promoting healthy living. The event featured over 50 health-related exhibitors, wellness displays, fitness presentations, a door-prize giveaway and more. The kitchen staff at SAC presented new healthy options available to students and staff in their display. SAC also partnered with the American Heart Association this year to celebrate National Walking Day.

 

 

Phi Theta Kappa Inducts Students

SAC’s Phi Theta Kappa induction was held March 20. There were over 100 new inductees; 29 of those attended the ceremony. Speakers at the event included Dr. Robert Zeigler, president; Robert Vela, vice president for student and academic success; Andrew Hubbard, student government president; and Kim-Briana Lorine, PTK officer. George Stanley was the master of ceremonies. Ceremonies were held in memory of William Sinkin, Beta Nu charter member 1932. An honorary medal was awarded to Dr. Zeigler by the chapter officers.
