NVC Recognized Nationally

Northwest Vista College, one of the Alamo Colleges, was recognized this week by the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program (BPEP). Managed by the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Baldrige Award program promotes excellence in organizational performance, recognizes the achievements and results of U.S. organizations, and publicizes successful performance strategies.  

This year, for the first time in the Baldrige program’s 25-year history, three high-performing institutions are being recognized for best practice in select categories of the Baldrige Criteria , which include:   

1. Leadership 
2. Strategic planning 
3. Customer focus 
4. Measurement, analysis and knowledge management 
5. Workforce focus  
6. Operational focus
    

Northwest Vista College was recognized for best practice in two Baldrige categories: leadership and customer focus. The college is the only educational institution this year in the country to receive a Baldrige site visit. 

 “The Northwest Vista College faculty and staff are committed and focused on student success and will continue to strive for performance excellence in meeting the needs of our students,” said Jacqueline Claunch, Ph.D., college president.  “Our mission is Creating Opportunities for Success for our students and community.”   

The Alamo Colleges Chancellor, Bruce Leslie, Ph.D., said Northwest Vista College has been a leader in the pursuit of quality. “Northwest Vista College leadership, faculty and staff have set a high standard in serving our students. We congratulate our colleagues on this outstanding achievement.”

• PricewaterhouseCoopers Public Sector Practice , McLean, Va.  - Leadership, workforce focus
