Packed house greets actor Hill Harper
Actor and author Hill Harper spoke to a packed auditorium Tuesday night in McAllister Auditorium. Approximately 700 people heard Harper’s “Manifest Your Destiny” motivational speech.
Harper came on stage just after 7 p.m. following a video montage of roles and an introduction from Dr. Robert Zeigler.
The actor jumped off and on the stage, engaging the audience that included young and old, students and community members. He made the audience laugh and applaud throughout the evening and he extolled them to “be an architect of your own life.”
Harper started off the evening praising community colleges as “so important for our country,” and explaining that your foundation is education.
“I have a job you don’t even need a high school diploma for,” he joked about his gig as a television actor. But despite that he has two master’s degrees.
“The framework for our lives is the choices we make,” he said.
He followed his hour-long talk by taking questions from the audience and then joined everyone in the lobby of the McAllister Auditorium. He signed autographs and copies of his books and chatted with his fans until past 9 p.m.
Harper's appearance was part of the Fine Arts & Cultural Events Series (FACES) for San Antonio College.
