About Us
The Workforce Center of Excellence is one of the five Alamo Colleges Workforce Training Centers delivering on the collaborative conferencing and workforce development needs of the Alamo Colleges District, with a focused intent towards the betterment of San Antonio’s evolving and increasingly equipped Information Technology Workforce.
Pursuing Excellence in Workforce Education
The WCOE is located in the heart of SW San Antonio, next door to St. Phillips Colleges' Southwest Campus, just off US-90 W & Quintana Road. Directly adjacent to Port of SA’s booming innovation campus with global industry leaders in Aerospace, Cybersecurity, Manufacturing, and Logistics, the WCOE is primed to support and exceed the workforce training needs of the Thompson, Quintana, Tierra Linda, and other local communities.
Hosting one of the first public PearsonVUE Authorized Test Centers on the Southside of San Antonio, WCOE is fully equipped to assist anyone seeking new career opportunities - from the embedded professional to those taking their first steps towards career excellence.
WCOE computer labs and WiFi are available to the public and all ACD students. Private sector businesses and non-profit organizations may reserve classrooms, computer labs, or boardrooms for classes or other events and activities based on standard ACD rental fees.
Mission
The Centers serve as "one-stop centers" that meet community members where they are and provide academic and workforce training for student success.
History
Nestled between St. Phillips Southwest Campus, Kelly Air Force Base, and PortSA, WCOE was established in 2010 after Alamo Colleges District, PortSA, & Joint Base SA came to an agreement to vacate the Advanced Technology Center and relocate to St. Phillips SWC in the former Defense Media Activity facility, now owned by Alamo Colleges District and sporting a new name and a bold promise: The Workforce Center of Excellence.
