To get started, we ask for the following three requirements:
1. A Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited Institution
2. Minimum G.P.A. of 3.00 (Overall or Last 60 Hours)

What is the Alamo Colleges Educator Preparation Program?
The Alamo Colleges Educator Preparation Program is an alternative teacher certification program within the Alamo Colleges District. Our program prepares candidates to become certified teachers in the state of Texas.
What is Alternative Certification?
Alternative certification is a non-traditional route to teacher certification that allows one to teach in the classroom. It requires candidates to already hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Fast-Paced CurriculumOur state-accredited program can be completed in as little as 9 months.
Small Class SizesClass sizes cap at an average of 20 people. These classes allow for more student engagement, better contact with our instructors, and flexibility with scheduling.
Supported Field ExperiencesField observations are conducted by certified former administrators. Additionally, field experiences are ample opportunities for feedback and growth.

Alamo Colleges District (Alamo Colleges Educator Preparation Program) has been approved for its candidacy status for QM's Online Program Design and Online Teaching Support and is committed to implementing a quality assurance process at the institutional (or programmatic) level and undergoing the Program Review process at the end of the maximum 3-year candidacy period (from 01/27/2022 to 01/27/25). The Quality Matters Program Certification process ensures that online programs and courses promote learner engagement and provide students with all the tools and resources they need to be successful learners.
