The Uplift Scholarship program offers support and services to help students complete their education and secure jobs in high-growth, high-demand fields. The Uplift Scholarship Program exemplifies the "students first" values of the Alamo Colleges. Its generous support for Uplift Scholars goes beyond funds for tuition and fees to include assistance with books, funds to help meet unplanned emergency needs when needed, and opportunities to engage with local PepsiCo employees.
About the PepsiCo Foundation Uplift Program
In March 2021, The PepsiCo Foundation launched this $40 million nationwide program to support incoming community college students and graduating students transitioning to four-year colleges. The program aims to address the historical barriers that often make it challenging for students to enroll, persist, and graduate from college.
The PepsiCo Foundation's investment seeks to create equitable access, especially for students who rely on community colleges for economic mobility. To ensure that these students not only get to college, but have the resources and support they need to complete, this comprehensive program aims to support 4,000 students over five years by providing professional mentoring, financial assistance for tuition and eligible living expenses like childcare and transportation.

Growing up it was stressed to me that college was going to have a big impact on my life and I was able to witness its effects in front of me. My father went to college and earned a masters degree, but my mother never had the chance to go to college because she was raising us. I saw how this effected our life living in a household with a single mother who didn't work. As a result of this I knew from an early age that I wanted to go to college and that was my parents dream for me as well; but of course my ideal job changed from when I was a kid. From wanting to be a chef to a singer, an artist, an interior designer, and finally I have landed on an architect. My love for art, and my need to be creative has always been a big part of who I am, but I also have a love for sports. This scholarship will help me further my education and fuel my creativity as I pursue a career in architecture." |

Most importantly the biggest advantage of choosing information technology for a career is that it has a very low cost of education as compared to many other career choices. It is no secret that men makeup most of the workforce in I.T. related industries. Women are underrepresented in this field and are not encouraged to carry out their talent.
