  1. Asynchronous: Online learning that allows students to access the course each week at any time
  2. Synchronous: Students must log in and participate in class at a specified time each week via Zoom or video conference

E-rate is an exceptional value for Alamo Colleges' online students. It provides a high-quality education at affordable rates for adults with some college and no degree or those who never tried college to complete their academic path.

Additionally, the Board approved the inclusion of textbook rentals in E-rate tuition—students no longer have to pay additional fees for their instructional materials.

Effective Fall 2023, out-of-district and out-of-state students taking asynchronous or synchronous fully online courses will be eligible for E-rate tuition.

E-rate is $180 per credit hour. This reduced rate will reflect on student accounts within 24–48 hours of registration. All other fees and special tuition rates will still apply.

The tuition rate for all Bexar County residents remains at $109 per credit hour.

Ready to save big? Let's connect.

E-rate does not apply to:

  • Face-to-face classes
  • Hybrid (a combination of face-to-face or remote learning and online) classes
  • International students taking fully online classes

This exceptional value to students allows the District to provide high-quality education at affordable rates to adults with some college and no degree or those who never tried college to complete their academic path.

Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees first approved Erate in March 2019. It became effective in the Fall of 2019 and was expanded to include out-of-state residents in the Fall of 2020
