Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

What is the Medical Assistant program?

Earn a CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification. Medical assistants perform routine clinical and administrative duties under the direct supervision of a physician or other healthcare professionals. They perform a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to, taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, collecting and preparing lab specimens, and assisting other medical professionals during diagnostic examinations. Externship Requirements

  • Students who wish to secure their placement in the upcoming Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) program, must complete the list of immunizations and other requirements below, prior to attending the SPT Clinical Lab and Externship. Failure to complete the requirements listed will prevent students from participating in externships and earning their certification credentials.
