  • Learn About Caring Campus

The Caring Campus Initiative, developed by the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC) is designed to create a college environment that increases students’ sense of connectedness and belonging and, in turn, completion of each student’s education goals.

At NLC, we're dedicated to creating a vibrant and supportive community where you feel connected and valued throughout your educational journey. Our Caring Campus Initiative is part of our commitment to your success, retention, and persistence by fostering a caring and inclusive environment. We understand that some students may need extra encouragement and connection as they navigate college, and we're here to support you. Throughout the semester, our commitment has resulted in the creation of spaces where you can collaborate, connect, and build meaningful relationships. We also provide various activities to help you engage with your peers and develop a strong network of colleagues. By focusing on quality interactions and cultivating a positive atmosphere, we aim to enhance your college experience and ensure you have the support you need to thrive.

  • The Ten-Foot Rule:

NLC Employees make an effort to greet anyone within ten feet with a smile and a friendly hello, fostering a warm and welcoming environment.

    Name Badge:

Always wear your Northeast Lakeview College or Alamo Colleges District name badge or ID badge so that your name is visible, making it easier for students and staff to reach out with questions, enhancing openness and accessibility.

    Warm Referral:

When asked a question outside of your expertise, kindly walk the individual(s) to the appropriate colleague for best service of the individual(s) needs.

    Cross Department Awareness:

Understand what campus and community resources are available, so that you make accurate referrals.
