NLC Adopts Three SCUCISD Schools
Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD (SCUCISD) kick-offed its Adopt-A-School Initiative for the 2015-2016 school year with a Proclamation Ceremony on August 27. Dr. Greg Gibson, Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD superintendent, and Dr. Craig Follins, Northeast Lakeview College president, partner to bring the college experience to SCUCISD students at all levels along the education pathway (from Pre-K to high school).
NLC will adopt Corbett Junior High School, Schertz Elementary, and Rose Garden Elementary and during the next academic year, will provide mentoring to students at each of the three schools. The project will also include academic success skills, service learning, college campus visits to NLC, and other activities throughout the year.
The initiative will directly impact more than 2,500 students and help develop an understanding of college and the importance of setting goals.
SCUCISD is repeatedly one of Northeast Lakeview College’s top sender school districts. In fact, in 2014 Steele High School was NLC’s top sender school.

Northeast Lakeview College (NLC), one of the Alamo Colleges, and Judson Independent School District to hold a Proclamation Ceremony to launch its Adopt-A-School Initiative. Dr. Willis Mackey, Judson ISD superintendent, and Dr. Craig Follins, Northeast Lakeview College president, partner to bring the college experience to Judson ISD students at all levels along the education pathway.
NLC will adopt Salinas Elementary, Spring Meadows Elementary, and Kirby Middle School and during the next academic year, will provide mentoring and tutoring to students at each of the three schools. The project will also include college campus visits to NLC, and other activities throughout the year. The initiative will help develop an understanding of college and the importance of setting goals.
Educators from both NLC and JISD will collaborate to share best practices and college expectations regarding instruction.
