What is the World Languages program?
The World Language department offers four levels of Spanish Courses and two levels of French courses. For students who are unable to attend an on-campus course, Palo Alto College offers the flexibility of online courses in Spanish. It is no mistake that many business professionals, teachers, medical personnel, and university students have chosen to learn Spanish. Approximately, 500 million people worldwide speak the language. Speaking two languages enhances cognitive skills, improves mental health, and even increases salary. Spanish is the third-most used language online and the
second-most spoken language in the United States.
World Languages Program HighlightsThe goal of the program is to offer student resources and experiences that will provide further instruction and practice in speaking, reading, writing, and listening in their target language, as well as skills in cultural competence necessary to acquire a better understanding of the people and the language they are studying. All Spanish and French courses follow the ACTFL guidelines via: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons and Communities. (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) |
