What is the communications program?

The communication program offers classes that empower students for the emerging workforce in media, digital communication, and industries in mass communication. While enrolled, students will develop the skills to thrive in this increasingly global and digital environment. Courses include:

  • COMM 1307 – Intro to Mass Communication
  • COMM 2311 – Media Writing
  • COMM 2327 – Intro to Advertising
  • COMM 2330 – Intro to Public Relations

Communication courses offer students hands-on learning experiences through the creation of their own media content – digital productions (PAC-TV), social media management, and digital articles for PAC PULSE, our online publication. All communication majors will build a portfolio of work to present to their transfer institutions and to obtain internships and work in the mass media industry.

Communications Program Highlights

  • The Communication program produces alumni who now work in all sectors of the communication industry including PR Firms, Advertising agencies, television, radio, newspapers, and more!
  • The Communication program produces an excellent transfer rate to 4-year institutions including, the University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, Texas A&M University San Antonio, and Our Lady of the Lake University.
