Palo Alto College is excited to announce a groundbreaking new partnership with Union Pacific, one of the nation’s leading transportation companies. The partnership will offer unique opportunities for both students and Union Pacific employees through the college’s new Bachelor of Applied Technology in Operations Management (B.A.T.) program.

The collaboration opens doors for PAC students to gain invaluable, hands-on experience with Union Pacific through their Field Management Training program. This partnership offers students the chance to work directly with one of the largest freight networks in North America, gaining practical, real-world exposure in operations management, leadership, and logistics. This experience enhances students’ competitiveness in the job market, preparing them for rewarding careers in high-demand fields. Additionally, eligible students can secure a high starting salary with Union Pacific upon graduation, further solidifying the connection between PAC’s academic offerings and successful career outcomes.

The partnership offers Union Pacific employees an incredible opportunity to advance their careers. Many employees with extensive on-the-job experience may not have formal degrees, which can limit opportunities for advancement. Through this partnership, Union Pacific employees can take advantage of the company’s tuition reimbursement program to earn their bachelor’s degree at PAC at little to no cost. The flexible structure of the B.A.T. program allows employees to continue working while pursuing their education, empowering them to achieve their career goals without sacrificing their livelihood.

The initiative is impactful for both PAC and Union Pacific, as it helps develop a skilled, educated workforce that is well-equipped to fill leadership roles within the company. By providing a pathway for students and employees to expand their knowledge and skills, the partnership supports the creation of a new generation of operations management leaders who already understand Union Pacific’s operations. These employees are primed to make an immediate impact, helping to drive the company's continued growth and success.

Through this innovative partnership, PAC and Union Pacific are working together to build a stronger, more capable workforce that is prepared for future challenges while benefiting from a seamless transition between education and employment.
