What is the Emergency Management/Homeland Security Program?This program prepares you for a career in disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. It also updates and broadens the skills of those already in an emergency response profession. What will I learn?You’ll learn about homeland security intelligence operations, disaster planning and response, risk management and prioritization, multi-agency coordination, hazardous materials, terrorism studies and weapons of mass destruction. You’ll develop an understanding of how local, state and federal governments, public service organizations and industries prepare for, respond to, mitigate and recover from disasters and security threats, while gaining real-world decision-making and problem-solving skills. |
What can I do with this course of study?You’ll be prepared to continue your education in this field at a four-year university or pursue entry-level employment opportunities with municipalities, law enforcement agencies, emergency management agencies, private security firms or private businesses. This program is the foundation for careers requiring additional training and education, such as intelligence analyst, cybersecurity professional or positions within organizations like the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). What’s special about the program?San Antonio College is the first college in Texas to offer an AAS Degree in Emergency Management. You can complete this degree program fully online. From combating terrorism to disaster preparedness, the demand for individuals with training in emergency management and homeland security is growing. |

- EMAIL Subject line should read: "Tuition Exemption Fall, Spring or Summer with Year" so that we can process immediately.
NOTE: Tuition Exemption Forms must be completed every semester. All tuition exemptions will be processed and forwarded to Business Office.
SAC enrollment process allows steps to be completed remotely by students. Please follow the 1,2,3 Steps.
