SACSCOC Reaffirmation

St. Philip's College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award certificates, associate degrees and a baccalaureate in cybersecurity. St. Philip's College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. To maintain accreditation with the Commission on Colleges, St. Philip's College must comply with the standards contained in the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement and with the policies and procedures of the SACSCOC. The Commission on Colleges applies the requirements of its Principles to all applicant, candidate, and member institutions, regardless of type of institution (public, private for-profit, private not-for-profit).

SACSCOC Accreditation Status

St. Philip’s College received verbal notification of our reaffirmation accreditation status on December 5, 2017. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Trustees approved reaffirmation for St. Philip’s College with the next reaffirmation taking place in 2026.

SPC received an official letter on January 12, 2018 indicating our reaffirmation accreditation status.  SPC will continue to serve students and maintain normal operations as we continue to adhere to the SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation.

SPC received an official letter on January 11, 2024 indicating approval of membership at Level II, offering a Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity degree.

What is SACSCOC?

SACSCOC is an acronym for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It is an accreditation body for degree-granting higher education institutions and serves institutions approved by the Commission to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degrees. The mission of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is to assure the educational quality and improve the effectiveness of its member institutions. 

Is St. Philip’s College (SPC) still accredited?

Yes, St. Philip’s College continues to be an accredited institution. SPC has been accredited by SACSCOC since 1951.

The QEP, Quality Enhancement Plan, is a central part of the SACSCOC Reaffirmation Process. As part of this process, the college has developed a QEP Plan that identifies and targets for improvement a key aspect of our students’ educational experience responding to SACSCOC Principle 7.2.
