What is Social Work?
Social Work is for students who are seeking a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Social Work.
What will I learn in Social Work?
Students will gain a broad understanding of the philosophical, historical, and contemporary basis of social work as well as social work values, ethics, and areas of practice.
What can I do with this course of study?
Utilizing a generalist intervention model, students will critically examine the skills necessary to effectively intervene in areas such as Public Welfare, Schools, Criminal/Justice Corrections, Healthcare, and Gerontology.
What does the future of Social Work look like?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it is projected that there will be an 11% change in employment for social workers. Whereas, there is an expected average growth rate of 5 percent for all occupations.
What is special about the program?
The curriculum has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and is guaranteed to transfer to any social work bachelor's degree program in Texas Public Universities.
