Distance Testing Options

Option 1: Virtual TSI Testing

You can now take the TSI assessment from home through ProctorU!

To test from home with ProctorU, follow the steps below:

A. Complete an ACCUPLACER system check by using ACCUPLACER's diagnostic tool. You must see Pass on all 5 areas
B. ProctorU: Log into your ProctorU account and click "Test Your Equipment."

Did you pass both system checks?

If yes, please complete the following steps:

1. Complete the Alamo Colleges Remote Testing request. 
2. Complete your Alamo Enroll modules found in your ACES student portal.
3. Retreive your TSI Assessment voucher from the email provided on the Alamo Colleges Remote Testing request.
4. When you receive your voucher, create a ProctorU account by clicking here, click Create Account, and proceed to finalize your profile. Note that ProctorU has a $28 proctor fee.
5. Once the profile is complete you may schedule your appointment, but you will need the voucher number to complete the scheduling process.

If no, please click the “Schedule Now” button to set an appointment to take the TSI Assessment on campus

We will automatically receive your scores once you have completed the exam. Post Assessment Advising is your final step to be able to register at SPC.

Option 2: Remote Testing

Remote testing allows SPC students to take the TSI Assessment at an institution close to their homes. Remote Testing is available for all students who are located outside of the San Antonio area and cannot take the TSI Assessment on the SPC or SPC–SWC campus.

Remote Testing process:

  • Requests must be received at least 10 business days prior to the preferred test date.
  • Students are responsible for all remote related proctoring fees.

Request a Remote Testing Voucher by emailing spc-testcenter@alamo.edu and notify us of the test center location you will be testing at.

The student will purchase the exam through the virtual business office and will email receipt to spc-testcenter@alamo.edu.

A remote voucher is sent via email from Accuplacer to the remote institution and the student.

Upon receiving the remote voucher, the student makes an appointment with the remote institution and pays any proctoring fees associated with their testing*

The student brings a copy of the voucher with them to take the exam.

Student takes the exam and upon completion, the TSI results are inputted into the SPC system by the TSI office within 48 hours.

*BE AWARE that in addition to the SPC cost for the remote voucher, the remote institution administering the exam may charge a proctoring fee (because you are not a student of their university) and you are solely responsible for paying this fee.

Option 3: Remote TSI Testing

St. Philip’s College will administer the TSI test to students from other institutions with or without Remote Vouchers.

Remote Voucher Testing:

Prior to testing at SPC, please complete the following:

  1. Contact your home campus and inform them of your decision to test at SPC.
  2. Ensure you have complete your home campus Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA).
  3. Purchase a Remote Voucher from your school and have your school email your voucher to SPC.
  4. Visit the Testing Center online appointment website to schedule to take your TSI test.
  5. Pay the $20 proctor fee via cash payment or online with debit/credit or check
  6. A valid Photo ID is required. 

Without Remote Vouchers:

  1. Compete Pre-Assessment Activity at ACCUPLACER.
  2. Email PAA completion confirmation to spc-testcenter@alamo.edu
  3. Visit the Testing Center online appointment website to schedule to take your TSI test.
  4. Purchase the exam on your test date at Testing Center.
  5. Pay the $20 proctor fee via cash payment or online with debit/credit or check on your test date.
  6. A valid Photo ID is required.

On your test day:

  1. Ensure you have your valid school or government-issued ID.
  2. The Testing Center is located in WEC 207B.
  3. There is a $20 proctor fee that is due on the day you take your exam.
Option 4: Distance Education

St. Philip’s College will proctor SPC Online Learning exams that require a proctored setting. Courses may require Respondus Lockdown Browser or BioSig.

What to do prior to testing:

Visit the Testing Center online appointment website to schedule to take your Correspondence test.

Correspondence Testing slots are Wednesday's and Friday's by appointment only.

Requests must be received at least 10 business days prior to the preferred test date.

Have your instructor complete the Proctor Request Form and email it to spc-testcenter@alamo.edu.

Confirm with your instructor that your test materials and/or test password(s) have been sent to the SPC Testing Center.

Confirm with the SPC Testing Center, 210-486-2444, that the materials have been received.

A valid Photo ID is required.

Proceed to Testing Center located in the Welcome Center in Room 207B.

The student's external or correspondence exams will be administered according to the prescribed regulations set by the home institution regarding the use of notes, books, calculators, time limit, passwords and items necessary to the proctor.

Option 5: Proctored Exam

St. Philip’s College will proctor Distance Learning Exams such as HESI, College or University Exams, Real Estate exams, and any other exam that requires a proctored setting.

What to do prior to testing:

Visit the Testing Center online appointment website to schedule to take your Correspondence test.

Correspondence Testing slots are Wednesday's and Friday's by appointment only.

Requests must be received at least 10 business days prior to the preferred test date.

Have your instructor submit a Proctored Request Form to spc-testcenter@alamo.edu.

Confirm with your instructor that your test materials and/or test password(s) have been sent to the SPC Testing Center.

Confirm with the SPC Testing Center, 210-486-2444, that the materials have been received.

A valid Photo ID is required.

Bring receipt of fee payment if you pay via the Virtual Business Office, please ensure you select SPC Correspondence Test. Cash payment will be accepted on the day of the exam.

Proceed to Testing Center located in the Welcome Center in Room 207B.

The student's external or correspondence exams will be administered according to the prescribed regulations set by the home institution regarding the use of notes, books, calculators, time limit, passwords and items necessary to the proctor.

Testing Correspondence Fee: $20.00 per test

Option 6: On Campus Testing

Future Tigers, to be administered the TSI exam at St. Philip's College, please follow the steps below to begin your admission and registration process. 

 

  1. Apply to St. Philip’s College at applytexas.org
  2. Submit official high school and/or college transcripts to the Records office.
  3. Complete your Alamo Enroll Modules in your ACES portal.
  4. Schedule your TSI placement exam through the Testing Center’s online appointment website: https://www.alamo.edu/spc/testing-center/
  5. select the “SCHEDULE NOW” button on the left side
  6. select test location “TSI Assessment-On Campus”
  7. select exam “TSI-ELAR and Math”
  8. click Find Open Time Slots
  9. select your desired date and time by clicking “Book It”
  10. select “NEW USER” and continue filling out the required fields
  11. enter your Banner ID or school ID (Banner ID search tool is available next to this field)
  12. if you are unable to retrieve your Banner enter the last 6 digits of your SSN
  13. select “Finalize Exam Schedule” for confirmation notification

On the test date:

  1. A valid Photo ID is required.
  2. Purchase your TSI exam via a cash payment, debit or credit, or check at the SPC Test Center.
